Christopher Landon Set to Write and Direct Supernatural Horror Film FINAL BOARDING for Screen Gems

Horror fans are about to get another project from one of the genre’s most reliable filmmakers. Christopher Landon has lined up his next feature, and it’s a supernatural thriller titled Final Boarding for Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems. The filmmaker will both write and direct the movie, which is based on a short story by Clarence Hammond.

Details about the story are currently locked down, but the project is being developed from Hammond’s original short story along with a previous script adaptation written by Javier Gullón. Gullón’s involvement with the project first surfaced earlier this year, and now Landon is stepping in to guide the film from script to screen.

Landon has built a strong reputation in horror over the years as a writer, director, and producer who knows how to deliver clever genre entertainment.

His most recent project, Drop, brought him back into the spotlight with a mystery thriller starring Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar. The film was produced by Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes and released through Universal last April, earning strong critical reactions.

That collaboration is already continuing. Last fall, Landon reunited with his Drop partners for a new Netflix thriller titled Blink of an Eye. The film is written by Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs from a story by Landon himself.

He will also produce the project alongside Brad Fuller, Cameron Fuller, and Michael Bay through Platinum Dunes.

Landon has stayed busy across the genre space lately. He recently co-wrote and produced Screen Gems’ horror comedy Heart Eyes, and many fans still associate him with the twisted time-loop fun of Happy Death Day and its sequel, as well as the body-swap slasher Freaky.

Earlier in his career he also played a major role in shaping the Paranormal Activity franchise at Paramount, working alongside Screen Gems President Ashley Brucks during her previous time there.

Now with Final Boarding, Landon looks ready to add another eerie chapter to his horror résumé. While we’ll have to wait a bit longer to learn what kind of supernatural terror the story has in store, the combination of Landon and Screen Gems already feels like a promising setup for something creepy and fun.
