Christopher Nolan Adds Josh Peck to His OPPENHEIMER Cast
Christopher Nolan isn’t finished casting Oppenheimer yet! He just brought in Josh Peck (Turner & Houch, How I Met Your Father) to join the huge ensemble cast.
The movie centers on J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who ran the Manhattan Project that led to the invention of the atomic bomb during World War II. The film has been described as an “epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.”
Peck will play Kenneth Bainbridge, a scientist who was involved in the Manhattan Project. Cillian Murphy is playing J. Robert Oppenheimer with Emily Blunt playing biologist and botanist Kitty Oppenheimer.
We also have new details on who everyone else is playing the film. Matt Damon plays Manhattan Project director Leslie Groves Jr., and Robert Downey, Jr. will take on the role of founding commissioner of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission Lewis Strauss.
Florence Pugh will play psychiatrist Jean Tatlock, Benny Safdie will portray theoretical physicist Edward Teller and Josh Hartnett will embody pioneering American nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence. The movie also stars Rami Malek, Michael Angarano, Alden Ehrenreich, Kenneth Branagh, and Matthew Modine.
The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.
