CINDERELLA Is Getting the Horror Movie Treatment with CINDERELLA'S CURSE
Cinderella is the latest classic fairytale to get the bloody horror movie treatment. That Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey movie kind of started this thing of taking these classic children’s characters and building super low-budget horror films around them!
This next movie will be titled Cinderella’s Cuurse, and it will be developed at ChampDog Films with Louisa Warren directing and producing. The script for the film is written by Harry Boxley (Mary Had A Little Lamb). The cast includes Kelly Rian Sanson, Chrissie Wunna, and Danielle Scott.
Louisa Warren talked to Bloody-Disgusting about the film and said: “This an incredibly unique spin on the Cinderella we all love and know. There are going to be some truly horrific deaths by her hands. I think the gore hounds are in for a treat in my dark retelling.”
The actual Cinderella fairytale story has some pretty horrific stuff in it, so it seems like it will fit right in with the horror genre. Cinderella includes several dark and disturbing elements woven into its narrative. It features element of Cruelty, abuse, Isolation, imprisonment, violence, and mutilation. At one point, Cinderella's stepsisters go to great lengths to fit into the glass slipper, resorting to cutting off parts of their feet or toes. The gruesome act of self-mutilation for the sake of fitting the slipper is a horrifying element!
Filming begins next month in the UK and ITN Studios will be releasing the film in October 2023.
