Claire Foy Joins Danny Boyle’s Next Film INK, Which Dives into the Rise of Rupert Murdoch’s Media Empire

Claire Foy has lined up her next big role, joining Jack O’Connell and Guy Pearce in Ink, the next film from Danny Boyle. The movie, which is currently in production, will explore the explosive early days of Rupert Murdoch’s media empire and the birth of The Sun newspaper.

The project comes from Studiocanal, Media Res, and House Productions, with Studiocanal launching worldwide sales at AFM and co-representing domestic sales with WME Independent.

Based on the Tony-nominated play by multi-Olivier Award-winning writer James Graham, Ink is described as “an explosive cinematic rollercoaster about a group of visionaries and misfits who had an idea for a new kind of news — one that would give the people what they want and would change the face of the world we live in today.” Graham, who wrote the original play, also adapted the screenplay.

In the film, Guy Pearce will take on the role of Murdoch, Jack O’Connell will portray The Sun editor Larry Lamb, and Claire Foy will play an ambitious editor who joins the paper and works closely with Lamb as Murdoch’s bold new vision begins to take shape.

Boyle is producing alongside Tessa Ross and Michael Ellenberg, reuniting Boyle and Ross after their Oscar-winning collaboration on Slumdog Millionaire.

For Foy, Ink continues her streak of challenging and dynamic projects. She recently received rave reviews for her performance in H is for Hawk, a Plan B production that premiered at the Telluride Film Festival. The film, distributed by Roadside Attractions, also screened at the London Film Festival and AFI Fest.
