COBRA KAI's Jacob Bertrand Is Happy With the Ending and Teases It's "Absolutely Insane"
The second part of Cobra Kai Season 6 will bring the series to an end and fans are excited and curious to see how the creative team will close out the story.
Series star Jacob Bertrand recently talked about the ending of the show and said he is happy with how the sixth and final season of the hit Netflix series ends, but he also knows that you can’t make everyone happy.
While talking to GamesRadar+, Bertrand said: "You can't make everybody happy, but I was happy with the ending and so is [the cast and crew]. Obviously, for the Sekai Taikai, only the captains can win it and Robby's the captain.
“So for all those Miguel stans out there – let Robby have his moment. We'll see if Robby can actually pull it out. Not everyone can win everything, but I'd say where everyone's characters end up is in such a great place and the [series finale] is so awesome and was so much fun to film.
“I think everyone's gonna be stoked about where all the characters end up."
Bertrand continues: "There's a fight every single episode and each fight is bigger than the last. It is absolutely insane. There's some very big falls from grace."
Well, damn! That sounds awesome! This show has been so much fun to watch over the years and it’s going to be fun to experience the final episodes.
Cobra Kai creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg preivously talked about bringing the beloved series to a close.
Heald said: "Unlike every other season, we're not building toward a bunch of storylines that are going to remain in flux and remain unresolved, and try to come up with the season's cliffhanger and where do we want to turn up the heat. There's a lot of that along the way in Season 6, obviously, because it's split up in three parts.”
He added: "But one of the most enjoyable things was thinking about the endgame that we've had in our heads from the beginning.
“For the characters that we had in Episode 1, and then having acquired all of these other characters that we love and that have become so important to this universe along the way, making sure that their endgames all make sense, all dovetail with each other, all coexist in different and explosive ways.
“That was probably the most fun part of putting together the final season, making sure that we're delivering upon the promise of everything we've set up from the first five seasons and land it all in satisfying and some unexpected ways."
It’s good to know that the creative team put a lot of thought into this and how the character’s story arcs will come to an end.
As for Johnny (William Zabka) and Daniel (Ralph Macchio), it’s explained that they will end up right where they were planned to when Cobra Kai began.
Hurwitz explained: "For our main characters, you know the Johnny and Daniels of the world who we've known since 1984, the ending is very similar to what we were thinking about before we even had a writer's room way back on Season 1.
“It was the kinds of things that we talked about in the long game. We always hoped that people would react to the show the way that they did and we'd have the opportunity to tell a six or seven season-long story.
“We're just grateful that we had the opportunity to land it the way that we envisioned. So in terms of those characters, there's tweaks within it, but the kinds of scenes that we have in some of those final episodes are very similar to things that we've been thinking about for a very long time.”
That’s awesome to hear! While Daniel’s story will continue in the movie being developed, I’m actually more interested in following Johnny’s story, so I hope that they have some kind of future plan for him. I guess we’ll find out when Cobra Kai comes to a close.
The story for Season 6 picks up with Cobra Kai being eliminated from the Valley, but that doesn’t mean John Kreese (Martin Kove) won’t return to teach karate. As you know, he escaped from prison at the end of season five, but you’ll see in the trailer that he’s training a new group of students.
Cobra Kai Season 6 will consist of 15 total episodes, which will be released in three parts over the course of several months.
