Cody Rhodes Teases Real Fights and Practical Stunts in Upcoming STREET FIGHTER Movie
The long-awaited Street Fighter movie is shaping up to be a knockout, and WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes is here to make sure of it. The WWE Champion is stepping into the role of Guile, the U.S. Air Force pilot and fan-favorite fighter known for his signature sonic booms, and he’s teasing a film packed with intense, practical action.
During a recent chat with Pat McAfee, Rhodes offered fans their first real insight into what’s coming from this new take on one of gaming’s most legendary franchises.
"I was adamant that anything that’s a stunt, I want to do it. If that requires me being on these wires, I want to do it. If you put another guy in the corner who I know is gonna do the shot after, I still want a shot at it."
That level of commitment is exactly what fans want to hear, especially from someone portraying one of the most physically demanding characters in the Street Fighter universe. Rhodes went on to praise his cast mates and the tone on set, revealing who will be leading the story.
"Noah [Centineo], Callina [Liang], and [Andrew] Koji, who are the three leads, [are] unbelievably good actors, who are taking it so dead serious and are there to work every day. Then you’ve got me, 50 Cent, Andrew Schultz, and Roman. We were able to play."
That confirms that Ryu (played by Andrew Koji), Ken Masters (Noah Centineo), and Chun-Li (Callina Liang) will headline the film, while Rhodes joins a stacked supporting cast that includes Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson as Balrog, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, and Jason Momoa as Blanka.
Set in 1993, the movie’s story finds estranged fighters Ryu and Ken pulled back into combat when Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament, a brutal clash that hides a darker conspiracy. The trio must face their pasts, their rivals, and the deadly power of Shadaloo, or risk losing everything.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter aims to capture the spirit of the beloved Capcom series while delivering big-screen spectacle filled with roundhouses, Hadoukens, and practical fight choreography.
If Rhodes’ passion for doing his own stunts is any indication, fans can expect authentic, bone-crunching action, not just CG chaos. This new Street Fighter could finally give the franchise the cinematic justice it deserves.
Street Fighter punches its way into theaters on October 16, 2026.
