Colin Farrell to Play a Priest Hunted by the Mob in Comic Book Adaptation ORDAINED from JOHN WICK Writer and Russo Bros.

Colin Farrell, fresh off his darkly charismatic turn in The Penguin, is diving into another gritty, crime-fueled world, but this time, he’s trading his mob boss persona for a man of the cloth.

Farrell is set to star in Ordained, an adaptation of the upcoming comic book from writer Robert Venditti and artist Trevor Hairsine, which hits shelves on December 10.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is being developed by Joe and Anthony Russo through their production company AGBO, with Derek Kolstad, the writer behind John Wick, handling the screenplay. Kolstad will also produce, alongside Farrell himself.

The story follows Father Roy Craig (Farrell), a priest who finds himself caught in the crossfire of organized crime after giving last rites to a dying mob boss. Things take a wild turn when that mob boss survives, and decides Father Roy knows too much after hearing his confession.

Soon, assassins, gangsters, and crooked cops are all gunning for the priest. But this isn’t your typical holy man; Father Roy has a violent past that resurfaces when he’s pushed to the edge. Still, in true priestly restraint, he refuses to kill his pursuers.

Ordained hasn’t landed a studio or streaming home just yet, but there’s reportedly heavy interest from multiple parties. With the Russos and Kolstad behind the camera and Farrell in front of it, this one sounds like it’ll be a stylish, hard-hitting action thriller in the vein of John Wick, but with a spiritual twist.

While Farrell gears up for Ordained, fans are still wondering if we’ll see more of his Gotham crime saga. The Penguin was a massive hit for Max, and though a second season hasn’t been officially confirmed, Matt Reeves hinted that talks are happening.

“We’re in discussions. [Showrunner] Lauren [LeFranc] is thinking hard and we’re talking, so we’ll see,” Reeves recently said. “We love the show, and we think our cast is so incredible.

“The work that Lauren and the writers did was incredible. Our passion was in it, but never in our wildest dreams could we imagine it would have been received in the way that it was.”

Whether he’s waddling through Gotham’s underworld or dodging bullets in a faith-fueled thriller, Farrell continues to prove he’s a great and talented versatile and magnetic actor. This will be a great project for him.
