COMMUNITY Movie Has Been Delayed but Joel McHale Says the Story Is Really Great
It looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer for Dan Harmon’s upcoming Community movie. With the writer’s strike going on, the writing of the script is on hold. Joel McHale confirmed the news in a recent interview with TV Line saying:
“That was a bummer, because we were getting very close. But at the same time, I’m a thousand billion percent behind the writers. The writers need to be paid.”
McHale went on to say that the Community movie is “still going to happen” and added, “When this strike is over, we’ll come back and we’ll make it. And I am sure that [series creator] Dan [Harmon] will put in 12 jokes addressing the fact it took [this long to come together]. But we’ll get there. It just make take a little while.”
The actor went on to reveal that he does know what the story entails and he teases that the story is really great. He said:
“I know what’s going on [in the movie] but I can’t say anything. Everybody dies, it’s like the end of Hamlet. From what I know about it, it’s great, it really is. It’s going to be a barnburner.”
McHale will be joined in the film by returning stars Danny Pudi as Abed Nadir, Alison Brie as Annie Edison, Gillian Jacobs as Britta Perry, Donald Glover as Troy Barnes, Jim Rash as Dean Pelton, and Ken Jeong as Ben Chang. We still don’t know if Yvette Nicole Brown or Chevy Chase will return. Keith David is also expected to reprise his role as Elroy Patashnik.
While we haven’t gotten a clear plot for the movie, the show and film creator Dan Harmon did recently talk about what fans can rule out seeing in the upcoming movie.
