In the film, the mysterious prop is said to be the severed, embalmed hand of a powerful medium, and it’s used to conjure spirits. To activate it, you grab the hand and speak the words “talk to me,” inviting spirits or demons from the other side. You can then let the spirit possess you if you want because that’s always a fun idea!
The version of the hand you can buy from A24’s online shop is intended to be used as a smoking device (or incense burner), but it also makes for a creepy display piece.
