Corey Stoll Joins John Cena in MATCHBOX Movie From Apple and Mattel
Corey Stoll (Ant-Man) has joined the cast of Apple and Mattel’s live-action Matchbox film, and he will be joining John Cena and Jessica Biel.
There are no details on what the story will entail, but it will inspired by the Matchbox toy line, which was introduced in 1953 by Lesney Products, who revolutionized the die-cast toy car industry with its innovative approach to miniature vehicles.
The Matchbox brand was invented by automotive enthusiast Jack Odell to solve a challenge for his daughter, who was allowed to take a toy to school only if it was small enough to fit in a matchbox.
The toy was named after their ability to fit inside a matchbox; the brand's early success was driven by affordable, well-crafted models of real-life vehicles that children could easily collect.
Matchbox initially focused on cars but expanded its range to include trucks, planes, and even construction vehicles. Today, two Matchbox cars are sold every second somewhere around the world.
The movie will be directed by Sam Hargrave from a script is written by David Coggeshall and Jonathan Tropper.
Other cast members include Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, Arturo Castro and Danai Gurira. I’m curious about this movie and wondering what kind of story the creative team will tell.
