Courteney Cox Talks SCREAM VI and Teases an "Amazing" Scene She Has With Ghostface
Scream VI star Courteney Cox recently opened up a little bit about Gale Weathers’ role in the upcoming sequel. She’s the one surviving legacy cast member that is returning to the franchise as Neve Campbell chose not to return over the money she was offered.
It sucks that Campbell isn’t returning, and when talking about her absence, Cox said that she "missed working with her" and that she supports “whatever she feels is right.” She then went on to tease an “amazing” scene that she shares with Ghostface, telling Variety:
"I have a really good scene with Ghostface and it was amazing. I've obviously been stabbed many times and all that, but this time, to work with Ghostface and not know who's under the mask, it was really fun. Usually by the time I'm getting stabbed, I know who it is."
I assume that means she’s going to be getting stabbed again. We most likely get a glimpse of the scene she is referencing here in the trailer that was released. The big question is… will Gale survive again, or will she join Dewy in the afterlife? Coxs went on to say:
"[Gail] still lives in New York, which is great because now the killer's in New York, just as Sam and Tara have moved there. It kind of fell right into her lap. She wrote a book afterward. She told Sam that she wouldn't and then, of course, she did because, I mean, someone was going to do it. So, she had to. Kirby comes — Hayden Panettiere. It's so interesting how people came back. I have to remember. I thought she died! I get so confused. There's been so many. I’m just so excited to be a part of something this long."
The next chapter of the horror saga “continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.”
When talking about the violence factor, Melissa Barrera recently said in an interview, “With the last Scream, they were tiptoeing and trying to be very respectful of what the franchise had been up until that point, and keeping their inner gory dreams at bay. But with this one, they were like, ‘We’re going all out.’ It’s potentially a hundred times gorier.” So we’ve got that going for it!
Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Scream, Ready or Not), are both back behind the camera for the upcoming Scream VI.
The cast also includes Jenna Ortega as Tara Carpenter, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy, Mason Gooding as Chad, Samara Weaving, Liana Liberato, Hayden Panettiere as Kirby, and Dermot Mulroney. Courteney Cox also previously confirmed her involvement. Some newcomers include actor Dermot Mulroney and Mission: Impossible star Henry Czerny, plus Jack Champion (Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water), Liana Liberato (Light as a Feather), Devyn Nekoda (Sneakerella), and Josh Segarra (Arrow's Adrian Chase).
Scream VI will be bringing Ghostface back to theaters in March 10, 2023.
