Creepy Alternate Design for the Xenomorph Hybrid Creature in ALIEN: ROMULUS
At the end of Alien: Romulus, after a brutal fight to survive, a pregnant and dying Kay injects herself with the Prometheus 5 formula to keep herself alive.
This ultimately results in her giving birth to a human/alien xenomorph hybrid that is absolutely terrifying. This creature was named "The Offspring" in the credits and it was quite the monstrosity.
Director Fede Alvarez revealed that the studio did initially have some reservations about this thing, saying: "They did [push back] at the beginning [with regard to the Offspring], but not because they didn’t like it.
“They just thought, 'Is it too much? Do we really have to go there?' And I was like, 'Yeah, now that you said that we shouldn’t, I know that I will.' So that’s exactly what we did here. If you’re given an Alien movie by a corporation that is owned by Disney and they immediately say, 'Yeah, let’s make it,' then you are failing somehow. So we really pushed it to the limit, and I’m glad we did."
Now, some concept art from the film has surfaced thanks to @coldesign_ltd and they feature creepy alternate designs for the Offspring, and it’s very different from what we ultimately ended up seeing in the movie.
While these design have their own level of disturbing, I definitely prefer the one that was used in the movie!
The artist said: “During #AlienRomulus @fedalvar encouraged us all to have a go at the hybrid.i dont really do creatures but had a go in nomad sculpt. I know fede actually loved these great fun to do”
Check out the art below and let us know what you think about the design!
