Enjoy 12 Awesome Minutes of ALIEN: ROMULUS Behind the Scenes Footage Featuring Practical Effects
A cool new video for Alien: Romulus has surfaced that features twelve minutes of behind-the-scenes footage that was shot on the set during its production.
The footage focuses heavily on the film’s practical effects that were created and used to bring this sci-fi horror story to life.
Alien: Romulus is set between the events of Alien and Aliens, and it follows a “group of young people on a distant world who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
The movie stars Cailee Spaeny, who previously talked about the film's practical effects, saying: "We used practical effects. We had the same people who worked on Aliens. They came back.
“They were there making the xenomorph. This is a creature that they have so much love for. We had puppeteers working on the face-hugger. So to see that – it all felt so alive.”
"I had to turn off my 'nerding out' brain, because I was just like, 'Wow, it’s beautiful. Ooh, you put the Giger skull…' I had to turn that off. But it was properly scary.
“We set it between the first movie and the second. We were talking about, 'How could this be a child of the two?' So we have those heightened moments, but then proper horror."
The movie also starsIsabela Merced, Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and newcomer Aileen Wu.
Fede Alvarez is directing from a script he wrote with Rodo Sayagues. Ridley Scott is also a producer on the movie along with Michael Pruss (Boston Strangler) for Scott Free, with Brent O’Connor (Bullet Train), Elizabeth Cantillon (Persuasion) and Tom Moran (The Donut King) serving as executive producers.
Alien: Romulus will hit theaters on August 16, 2024.
