Creepy Fun "Boogeyman" Teaser for WIDOW'S BAY Cranks Up the Horror Comedy Vibes

Apple TV is keeping the eerie vibes rolling with another teaser for Widow’s Bay, and this one leans straight into nightmare fuel. The latest preview spins a creepy Boogeyman tale that gives the upcoming horror comedy series an extra layer of dread, while still keeping its slightly oddball charm intact.

Set on a remote island about 40 miles off the New England coast, Widow’s Bay introduces a town that feels cut off from modern life. No wifi, unreliable cell service, and a population that fully believes their home is cursed.

That’s a tough sell for newcomer mayor Tom Loftis, played by Matthew Rhys, who wants nothing to do with ghost stories or superstition.

Loftis is trying to fix a dying town and build something better for his son. Respect from the locals would help, but he isn’t getting that either. They see him as weak, and honestly, they might have a point.

Still, he pushes forward with a plan to turn the island into a tourist destination. Against expectations, it works. Visitors start arriving, money begins to flow, and for a moment it looks like he pulled off the impossible.

Then everything people warned him about starts creeping into reality. The new teaser leans into one of those legends, delivering a creepy Boogeyman story that suggests something is very wrong in Widow’s Bay.

Apple sums it up perfectly with the line: "Prepare to visit the local haunts of Widow's Bay." Sure, it sounds inviting, but the footage says otherwise.

This show also isn’t just horror, it mixes unsettling moments with a weird sense of humor. It feels like the kind of series that wants to make you uneasy one second and smirk the next.

Widow’s Bay comes from Katie Dippold, who built her career in comedy on Mad TV and Parks and Recreation, and she’s steering the series as creator and showrunner.

Directing duties are handled by Hiro Murai, who also serves as producer, along with a lineup that includes Ti West, Andrew DeYoung, and Sam Donovan. That’s a mix of filmmakers who know horror and aren’t afraid to get a little strange with it.

The cast also features Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll, and Dale Dickey, all caught up in a town where the past refuses to stay buried.

This Boogeyman teaser follows earlier previews, including one centered on a Sea Hag, and together they’re building out a collection of local legends that seem ready to come to life in increasingly unsettling ways. I’m digging these horror story teasers, they’re creepy but still kind of fun in a twisted way.

After decades of calm, the stories that once sounded ridiculous are no longer easy to ignore. The locals were right, and now Loftis has to deal with the consequences of not listening.

Widow’s Bay hits Apple TV on April 29th, 2026.
