Crunchyroll Confirms DEMON SLAYER: INFINITY CASTLE 2 Is “Actively in Production” as Fans Wait for Release News

Fans have been anxiously waiting for any kind of update on Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’s next chapter, and while there’s still no release date locked in, Crunchyroll has finally offered a promising status update on the sequel.

After the first Infinity Castle movie exploded into theaters and shattered box office records around the world, the follow-up has remained surprisingly mysterious.

That silence has left fans wondering just how far along the next installment actually is. According to Rahul Purini, president and CEO of Crunchyroll, the movie is moving forward and the team is just as eager as audiences are to reveal what’s next.

Speaking with GamesRadar+, Purini said: "We are eagerly waiting to be able to share with the world, with our fans, on when the next movie is coming."

He continued: "What we can say – and what we have said – is that this is a trilogy of movies that will be the final arc for Demon Slayer. Infinity Castle was the first one. There's two more to go."

That confirmation alone should get anime fans fired up because it means the massive finale to Tanjiro’s story is still fully on track as a three-part theatrical event.

Purini also confirmed the sequel is deep in development, saying: "We can tell you that it is actively in production. The studio wants to bring it to fans as quickly as possible. We just don't have a date yet."

That lines up with comments Purini previously shared with The Hollywood Reporter back in September 2025 when he explained:

"There's definitely urgency for all of us to bring more Demon Slayer to fans as soon as we can – because we know the urgency is there among the fanbase."

The first Infinity Castle movie turned into an absolute monster at the global box office. The film earned an incredible $781 million worldwide during its staggered international rollout, making it the highest-grossing anime movie ever made and pushing past major Hollywood titles like Thunderbolts and Superman along the way.

As for the story itself, details are still being kept under wraps, but manga readers already have a pretty good idea of where things are headed.

The sequel is expected to continue adapting Koyoharu Gotouge’s final manga arc as Tanjiro and the Hashira battle their way deeper into the Infinity Castle while closing in on Muzan Kibutsuji and the remaining Upper Rank demons.

If the first movie proved anything, it’s that ufotable is treating this finale like a full-scale cinematic event. Now fans are just waiting for the moment Crunchyroll finally drops the release date and unleashes the next chapter of Demon Slayer chaos onto theaters.
