DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Will Feature "Some of the Most Brutal Action" Marvel Has Done
For those of you Marvel fans hoping Daredevil: Born Again will feature some great fight sequences, it sounds like this new series is going to deliver.
The first season of Daredevil on Netflix featured one of the most brutal and raw fight sequences in a Marvel project, and according to producer Brad Winderbaum, Daredevil: Born Again is going to top that.
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Winderbaum said: “I’ll tell you, some of the most brutal action we’ve ever brought to the screen is coming in Daredevil: Born Again, which isn’t a horror show, but really it packs a lot of power and there’s a lot of visceral action, to say the least.”
Winderbaum continued to talk about how the MCU is big enough for each project to have its own tone, and this allows for Daredevil: Born Again to be more violent than other Marvel titles.
He said: “I think that it goes back to the filmmaker’s intent. The horror on screen in Agatha is going to be different than the horror on screen in Marvel Zombies, is going to be different than the horror on screen in Blade.
“It was different than the horror on screen in Moon Knight. It really depends on the vision of the filmmaker on what horror cues you’re pulling from. And that’s not just unique to horror. It’s unique to any genre we’re playing with. Obviously, there are many different ways to tell a story.”
Daredevil: Born Again catches up with Matt Murdock, “a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, and his nemesis, Wilson Fisk, who’s pursuing his own political endeavors in New York.”
Winderbaum previously compared the show to X-Men ‘97: "Daredevil is incredible. It's similar in some ways to X-Men '97 because it's reviving something that the fans love. But it's taking it in a new direction.”
He went on to tease how things have changed, saying: "These characters have matured, the universe is different than it was. Things have changed, society's changed. Matt and Wilson have changed.
“And their characters are gonna collide in ways we've never seen before. It's no longer enough to try to murder each other. There's a whole game of politics at play."
Daredevil: Born Again is currently being developed by directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who worked on both Moon Knight and Loki.
The series stars Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Vincent D'Onofrio as The Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter, and Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna-Fisk.
The cast also includes Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Jeremy Earl, and more.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to arrive on Disney+ in March 2025.
