DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 3 Rumored to Kill Off Several Major MCU Characters
Marvel may be preparing to leave some bodies behind when Daredevil: Born Again reaches the end of the road.
The Disney+ series is gearing up for its third and final season, and the creative team learned during production that Season 3 would be the last. That knowledge apparently gave them an opportunity to make the finale much more permanent for several major characters.
Industry insider MyTimeToShineHello claims the final season will kill off a number of important characters, saying:
“I’m not going to say who they are, but I’ve heard they knew halfway through production that this would be the final season, so they’re killing off a lot of important characters.”
There’s no official confirmation from Marvel Studios about these rumored deaths, so don’t start planning any funerals yet. Still, with the series ending, it certainly gives the writers more freedom to make some brutal choices.
On top of the report that Daredevil: Born Again will conclude with Season 3, Marvel Studios also parted ways with showrunner Dario Scardapane while the season was in post-production, and a source has said work on the season is now in its final stages.
As for who could die, the rumor doesn’t offer any names. That leaves plenty of characters on the table, including Kingpin, Elektra, Karen Page, or potentially members of the Defenders.
Marvel could even pull another Elektra death, because maybe dying once isn't enough when you're living in Matt Murdock's world.
The bigger question might be what happens to everyone who survives? It would be a shame to bring these characters back into the MCU, rebuild this corner of Marvel’s street-level universe, and then leave them sitting on a shelf.
Daredevil, Bullseye, Kingpin and the rest of this crew have plenty of potential beyond one Disney+ series. Maybe Marvel already has plans for them.
They could appear in future movies, show up occasionally in other MCU projects, or eventually find their way into another series. Hopefully, the end of Daredevil: Born Again isn't the end of Marvel seriously investing in these characters.
