DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Star Vincent D'Onofrio Teases a More Violent Series

Daredevil: Born Again actor Vincent D'Onofrio, who takes on the role of Kingpin, recently talked about the series and teased that the show may be more violent than what we’ve seen from the series in the past.

During an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, D'Onofrio talked about the level of violence: "There are some things in this show that go much further than we did on the original [Netflix] show.”

He then went on to tease something he character does in the story, that he’s surprised made it in: "There's one thing in particular that my character does that I can't believe made it into the cut."

So for those fans who are worried about Marvel pulling the punches in this series, it doesn’t sound like that will be the case.

Daredevil: Born Again catches up with Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), “a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, and his nemesis, Wilson Fisk, who’s pursuing his own political endeavors in New York.”

Marvel's Head of Television, Streaming, and Animated producer Brad Winderbaum, previously talked about the series saying it will feature a whole new "political" angle to Daredevil and Kingpin's arch-rivalry.

Winderbaum compared the show to X-Men ‘97: "Daredevil is incredible. It's similar in some ways to X-Men '97 because it's reviving something that the fans love. But it's taking it in a new direction.”

He went on to tease how things have changed, saying: "These characters have matured, the universe is different than it was. Things have changed, society's changed. Matt and Wilson have changed.

“And their characters are gonna collide in ways we've never seen before. It's no longer enough to try to murder each other. There's a whole game of politics at play."

The new series is reportedly inspired by the Devil's Reign storyline, which explores the power dynamics between Kingpin and the vigilantes who stand up against him. The story revolves around the power struggle between Daredevil and Wilson Fisk, who becomes the Mayor of New York City.

D'Onofrio previously talked about the project, saying: "It brings in a lot of cool stories and all the collateral story that happened in those original three seasons. So we now get to start this Born Again situation with all of that history behind us and the outcome of all that history. So we're all talking about Daredevil: Born Again in those terms now."

Daredevil: Born Again is currently being developed by directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who worked on both Moon Knight and Loki.
