DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Star Wilson Bethel Almost Led Scrapped STAR WARS 1313 Game
There’s a wild bit of “what could’ve been” trivia making the rounds again, and it ties together two very different corners of geek culture. As Daredevil: Born Again continues to roll out new episodes, fans are just learning that Wilson Bethel, who plays Bullseye, was once lined up for a major role in a now-canceled Star Wars video game.
Long before he was taking aim as Dex, Bethel had been cast as Rak Jaren, an original bounty hunter character in the ambitious game Star Wars 1313.
The project was first revealed back in 2012 and immediately grabbed attention with its darker tone and grounded approach to the galaxy far, far away. Instead of Jedi and Force powers, this story was all about grit, survival, and blasters in the underbelly of Coruscant.
Bethel’s character wasn’t meant to stick around for long, though. Rak Jaren would’ve been killed early in the story, making way for a familiar face to step in. After that shocking turn, players would take control of a young Boba Fett, shifting the entire narrative focus.
The game itself sounded incredibly cool and still does. Here’s the official description that was released at the time:
“As players take control of a lethal bounty hunter in a never-before-seen dark and mature world, Star Wars 1313 introduces an integrated development approach by bringing together great artists across the Lucasfilm organization, including LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm Animation Ltd. and Skywalker Sound.
“A third person cinematic action adventure game, Star Wars 1313 will bring to life the Coruscant underworld, the most dangerous place in the Star Wars™ galaxy.
“Named for Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant, the game puts players in control of a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy.
“Star Wars 1313 emphasizes epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a hero who uses human skills and gadgets, rather than supernatural Force powers, to make his way through this dangerous world.”
Set deep beneath the surface of Coruscant, Level 1313 was designed to feel dangerous and morally gray. It was a part of the Star Wars universe we hadn’t really explored in that kind of detail before. The focus on a non-Force-sensitive protagonist gave it a different edge, leaning into cinematic action and gadget-based combat instead of lightsabers.
Unfortunately, the game never made it to the finish line. After The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm in 2013, the project was shelved along with much of LucasArts’ internal development slate.
Since then, Star Wars 1313 has sat in limbo, occasionally resurfacing through leaked footage and concept art that only fuels curiosity about what it could’ve been.
A gameplay clip that surfaced online in 2022 gave fans a glimpse of the Boba Fett portion of the story, and over the years, bits and pieces have trickled out.
Meanwhile, Bethel is busy bringing Bullseye back into the spotlight in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. After the chaos he caused in the first season, including the death of Foggy, his current alliance with Matt Murdock raises more questions than answers. He may be fighting alongside the Man Without Fear for now, but trusting him completely still feels like a gamble.
New episodes of Daredevil: Born Again are currently dropping weekly on Disney+, and as fans tune in, it’s hard not to think about the alternate timeline where Bethel also left his mark on the Star Wars universe.
