Dave Bautista Says Goodbye To Drax After Wrapping GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: VOL. 3

Dave Bautista has made it clear that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the last time we see him play Drax The Destroyer. Well, the film recently wrapped shooting and Bautista has now shared a little goodbye to the character on social media, saying: “Haven’t found the words yet. It ended so suddenly and I was on to my next film before I could process it all. End of a journey that changed my life.”

It’s kinda sad that we’ll never see Bautista’s Drax again after this. I really hope that they brought his story arc to an end in a strong way, though. He’s just such a great and lovable character and I think there was so much more to explore with the character, but we’ll just have to wait and see what director James Gunn ended up doing with him in this next film.

When previously talking about Drax and wrapping up his journey, Bautista said:

"You know, it seems to be Drax's pattern that no matter what his goal is, he gets his ass kicked. No superhero has ever gotten their ass kicked so much as Drax!"

"It's our third film. We're going to wrap it up. And it's been a hell of a journey with a few bumps. So I'm looking forward to this, man. My cast and obviously the director, James Gunn, they're like family to me. This is kind of where my journey started. It's come full circle and I'm looking forward to wrapping it up. And it's a bittersweet... I mean, I've been doing Guardians since 2013. And, you know, when this comes out, you know, it'll be in 2023, so that's a, you know, 10 year journey."

"Part of the journey is the end. You know, all things must end. And, you know, I'm looking forward to kind of wrapping this up with my friends and family."

We don’t know much about the story that Gunn is looking to tell in this final chapter. But, the filmmaker has said that this next Guardians movie is going to be “gigantic.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023. We’ve got a whole year before we get to see the movie!
