Dave Bautista Wants To Quit GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 if Marvel Doesn't Use James Gunn's Script

It's looking less and less likely that Disney is going to rehire James Gunn to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It sounds like they are going to stand by their decision to fire him. Yeah, it sucks, but life has to go on and I'm sure that Disney and Marvel will end up hiring someone else to direct the film. Whoever that person is better be prepared because there's no doubt he or she is going to get a lot of shit-talk from some of the fans.

It's no secret that Dave Bautista isn't happy with Disney right now and recently said it was nauseating for him to work with the studio. He explained:

"I will do what Im legally obligated to do but @Guardians without @JamesGunn is not what I signed up for. GOTG w/o @JamesGunn just isn’t GOTG. Its also pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis . That’s just how I feel"

Now, in an interview with ShortList, Bautista says that he wants to quit the film if Disney or Marvel doesn't use the script that James Gunn wrote. That's a decision that has yet to be announced by Disney or Marvel. First of all, he says:

"Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man. I spoke to Chris Pratt the day after it happened and he’s a bit religious so he wanted time to pray and figure it out, but I was more like: fuck this. This is bullshit. James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met."

He then went on to say that he wants to be dropped from the film and quit if the studio doesn't use the script that Gunn wrote:

"Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script. Then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t."

That's definitely a good way to stand up for his convictions. Of course, he understands that this won't help Gunn get rehired:

"I don’t think [it] will get him re-hired. But I hope it opens people’s eyes to James’ character."

Do you think the cast should quit if Disney doesn't at least use the script that James Gunn wrote for the film?
