Dave Filoni Addresses Ray Stevenson's Baylan Skoll Story Arc Beyond AHSOKA - "We're in a Wait and See Pattern"
Ray Stevenson was awesome in the role of Baylan Skoll in Star Wars: Ahsoka and the storyline that was set up for the character was a really cool and fascinating one! A lot of fans have been wondering what Lucasfilm and the creative team are going to do with that story arc since Stevenson tragically passed away.
The Ahsoka series ended with Baylan Skoll standing on the statue of the Father, one of the Gods of Mortis, who represents Balance in the Force. To the right of the statue is a figure of the Brother, which is the personification of the dark side. To the left looks to be the shattered remains of the Sister, which is the personification of the light side.
This was clearly a tease at where Skoll’s story is headed. When talking about that visual, Filoni said in an interview with Vanity Fair:
"You have to be careful with that. I know it's a very specific group of people that would even know what those statues are, but I thought it was an exciting image, and it does give you the shape of what Baylan is after."
My theory is that Balyan is looking to unleash Abeloth the Bringer of Chaos. You can read my detailed theory on that here. When talking about the character and what’s going through his mind, Filoni explains that Baylan feels like he "should be the one making decisions.” He adds, “He's also very certain that what he's doing now is the right thing."
As for how they are going to handle Baylan’s story arc without Stevenson, Filoni isn’t quite sure yet. He went on to say:
"Obviously, there's a story there. We're in a wait and see pattern at this point. But I'm glad the conversation is about Ray and how great he was."
While I’m curious to see how Filoni and Lucasfilm will handle things in regard to Baylan Skoll, there’s no rush as fans continue to celebrate Stevenson's life and career.
