David Dastmalchian Wants to Play Twitch in Todd McFarlane's KING SPAWN Movie

David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad, Late Night with the Devil) is hoping for the chance to be a part of Todd McFarlane’s upcoming King Spawn film and there’s a particular character that he would love to play.

During an interview with ComicBook, the actor explained that he would want to play a "lean and tall, a little bit geeky" character in the movie.

Dastmalchain said: "I've always said to Todd that there is this couple of guys that are hanging out that are in the Spawn Universe and one of 'em's kind of lean and tall, a little bit geeky...

“I always felt like there was a space for me over there. I don't like to put ideas in executives' heads, but I'll just throw it out there."

It’s clear here that he is talking about detective Maximilian "Twitch" Williams, who first appeared alongside Sam in Spawn #1, and the actor could be great in the role if given the opportunity.

Years ago Jeremy Renner was set to play the character alongside Jamie Foxx, who is still set to play Spawn. I don’t believe Renner is attached to the project anymore, so it’s will be interesting to see who ends up taking on this role.

The movie has previously been described as “Spawn meets David Fincher” and a “gritty” and “dirty thing.” When previously talking about his take on the story, McFarlane explained: "There's two big roles in the script. There's obviously sort of Spawn himself, although in a weird way it's not the biggest role, and then there's the cop. The cop is this character Twitch who's been there since issue #1.

“Twitch is the role in this one, and I sort of refer to him as my sheriff Brody, who is the sheriff in the Jaws movie. Although it was called Jaws, Jaws didn't really talk a lot in his movie, right? He just kind of showed up at the opportune time to make the movie worthwhile."

King Spawn is set up at Blumhouse and it is looking to start production in 2025. Jason Blum previously said: “I’m going to bring the Blumhouse edge [to the Spawn movie]. It’s going to be edgy and original as compared to other superhero movies. It’s gonna definitely feel like the Blumhouse version of a superhero movie.”

Do you think David Dastmalchian would be a good fit for the role of Twitch?
