David Harbour Denies Spoiling AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY, Then Teases Another Big Moment

David Harbour may have accidentally spoiled a major moment in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday, but the Red Guardian actor insists he has no idea what everyone is talking about. Of course, while trying to clear things up, he couldn't resist teasing another potentially important scene from the movie.

It all started back in August when Harbour was asked to share a line from the upcoming Marvel film. He responded in his Red Guardian Russian accent, saying, "You… are Tony Stark."

That's a pretty interesting thing to say considering Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom, and Marvel has yet to explain whether his character has any connection to Tony Stark.

Fans immediately started wondering if Harbour had revealed a major plot twist involving Doom's identity. However, when Screen Rant recently confronted him about the quote, Harbour claimed he never said it.

"Did I say that I said that? No, I think you guys make this stuff up," he said. "The guy asked me for a line from Avengers: Doomsday, and my line was, 'Five, four, three, two, [one].' That's my line that I gave him. I don't know about the Tony Stark thing."

Apparently, the original story even caught the attention of Harbour's Thunderbolts co-star Wyatt Russell, who thought the actor had given away something huge.

"Wyatt Russell sent me an article like, 'David Harbour just ruined the movie.' And I was like, 'Okay.' So, I don't know. I don't think I said that. If I did, I'm sorry. I don't say that in the movie."

Whether Harbour genuinely doesn't remember saying the Tony Stark quote or is simply having fun messing with fans is anyone's guess. He might be in damage control mode! Either way, he was happy to offer up another little tease about Avengers: Doomsday.

"I do say 'Five, four, three, two, one,' though. That's a big spoiler. I count down from five at one point during the movie, and something very important happens," he joked.

So, apparently, Red Guardian has a countdown scene that leads to something significant. Harbour is clearly having fun with the whole situation, but now fans have another mystery to think about.

Harbour will reunite with his Thunderbolts teammates in Avengers: Doomsday, which features one of the biggest casts Marvel has ever assembled.

The lineup includes Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers, the Fantastic Four, and several familiar faces from Fox's X-Men movies.

Of course, the biggest question surrounding the film remains Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom and how the villain will fit into the MCU. Co-director Joe Russo recently offered some insight into what makes this version of Doom such a dangerous opponent.

"Doom's magic is ancient," Russo explained. "He is a very powerful character, as you can see in the trailer, and he's a genius. He studies his foes. He understands them, and he's also well-planned. He's not somebody who just does something off the cuff."

Russo added: "Everything is meticulous with him, and he knows that if he's going to step onto a battlefield against somebody, he has to have the tactical advantage or a power advantage against that person. So, he's very difficult to beat."

With Doom bringing that kind of power and intelligence to the fight, Earth's Mightiest Heroes are going to have their hands full.

As for Harbour's supposed Tony Stark spoiler, it's still unclear what’s going on there, but it’s hard to believe that Variety would make up a direct quote from the actor. His latest comments certainly aren't helping clear things up. He’s either having fun with this, or sweating bullets that he accidentally said something he shouldn’t have.

We'll find out what Red Guardian is counting down to when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
