David Harbour on Taking Risks With STRANGER THINGS Season 3 and Teases Hopper's Story

While we all impatiently wait for Stranger Things to return to Netflix, we have a few new comments from David Harbour to share with you in which he talks about what we can expect from Season 3. He shares the fact that they are all out of their comfort zone this season and teases a few things regarding Hopper's story arc. While talking to THR, the actor said:

"Certainly, acting is my favorite thing to do — but acting on this material with this group of people is just beyond. The scripts are really great this year. And in the new directions that we're going, all of us are taking a lot of risks. We're all a little bit out of our comfort zone."

As the interview continued, Harbour went on to tease the scope of the series and how it has continued to expand in Season 3. He also offers a little insight into Hopper's story arc.

"I wish I could characterize the season, but to me it's so big. For example, did you find last season to be darker? There were certainly elements of it that were scary, but I thought there was also a lot of fun, a lot of joy and a lot of silliness, with Steve being a dad and the kids as Ghostbusters. Just taking my story, for example, it's fun to see Hopper having adopted Eleven. She's become legitimized in the society, in the world of Hawkins. And he's a father now. He's raising a teenage daughter, with all that that entails. So I think that can be pretty funny to see his inadequacies in all of this."

It was previously reported that Stranger Things Season 3 would be the most ambitious season yet and that it was influenced by the films of John Carpenter, so that's exciting!

We don't know much about the plot of Season 3, but Shawn Levy previously revealed that the third season would take place one year after the second season, so that would set it during the summer of 1985. He also teased the relationships of the teen characters. When the story picks up Eleven and Mike will be a couple as will Lucas and Max. He also said that Steve Harrington will have a bigger role in the story this time around and that Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg's film Back to the Future will be a reference in the upcoming season.

Stranger Things Season 3 also stars Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Noah Schnapp as Will, Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Chief Jim Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Dacre Montgomery as Billy, and Sadie Sink as Max.

Stranger Things Season 3 is set to arrive on Netflix in the Summer of 2019.
