David S. Goyer is Not Going to Direct MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE

After seeing an early piece of concept art that potential David S. Goyer was working on for the new feature film adaptation of Master of the Universe, I was pretty worried. It looked nothing like anything that would come out of the He-Man universe. That concept art has since been removed.

Well, I'm happy to report that David S. Goyer has dropped out of the running to direct the film due to other commitments, so Sony Pictures is still on the hunt. Hopefully, they'll bring someone on that will actually have an epic vision for the film.

Goyer wrote a script for Masters of the Universe and he turned it into the studio last fall. Apparently, the studio loved the script so much they wanted to lock him in as the director. The only films that Goyer previously directed were Blade: Trinity, The Unborn, and The Invisible, which were all mediocre movies at best. He's a much better screenwriter. Goyer is now focused on a mini-series called Foundation, which is an adaptation of Irving Asimov’s science-fiction trilogy.

Goyer will stay involved with the project as an executive producer and screenwriter. The studio was on the verge of calling in actors to talk about the possibility of joining the film, but they will probably hold off on that until another director is brought on board.

I just hope that whoever the studio brings on board to direct this movie has a bold vision of the world where the story is set and that they will be able to develop a film that will make long-time fans of the franchise happy.

Is there anyone that you would like to see direct the movie?
