DEADPOOL 2 Release Date Moved Up, NEW MUTANTS Pushed Back, and GAMBIT Delayed

There's been a big Marvel movie release date shake-up at Fox. Deadpool 2, The New Mutants and Gambit all have new release dates.

Deadpool fans will be happy to hear that the sequel's release date has been moved up two weeks from June 1st to May 18th, 2018. This means that it will open up a week before Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is a brave move.

The X-Men horror film The New Mutants, on the other hand, has been pushed back 10 months. The Josh Boone-directed movie, which stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams and Charlie Heaton, is moving from April 13th to Feb. 22nd, 2019.

Why such a big push? According to THR, one reason is that the studio wanted to avoid having an overlap with Deadpool 2 in certain overseas marketplaces, where Mutants and Deadpool 2 would have been in theaters at the same time.

Then there's poor Gambit, which just lost its third director, Gore Verbinski. The release date for that film has been changed from February 14th, 2019, to June 7th, 2019. That was bound to happen as the studio is now currently on the hunt for a new director.

According to the report, the studio is still excited about the film and it's described as having a heavy comedic tone revolving around a heist. It'll probablky do better as a summer movie anyway.
