DEADPOOL 3 Director Shawn Levy Addresses Rumor That He's Directing Marvel's AVENGERS: SECRET WARS

Marvel Studios has got a long road ahead of them to get to their big epic Avengers: Secret Wars, but they are going to have some fun building up to it over the course of the next several years.

Avengers: Secret Wars does not have a director officially attached yet, but there have been rumors that Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy could be the guy in the director’s chair. During a recent interview on ET, Levy was asked about the rumor and as you might expect, he played coy regarding his future with Marvel. If fact, he’s so coy about it, that he’s got to at least be in the running, because he could’ve easily just said no. But, he didn’t. Instead, he said:

"I've read those rumors, and that's all I'm going to say."

If he’s not in talks or attached, why doesn’t he just say no!? One thing that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige made clear is that Joe and Anthony Russo will not return to direct Secret Wars, even though that’s the project they said they’d come back to direct.

Secret Wars was Marvel Comics’ first big crossover event series, and it made its debut in 1984. The Secret Wars story centered on Marvel’s greatest heroes and villains being transported to Battleworld thanks to a powerful being known as the Beyonder. It’s on Battleworld where the heroes and villains could decide once and for all whether good or evil was the greater force.

It’ll be interesting to see how the MCU film version of the story turns out because we all know it’s going to be very different from the comic book.

Regardless, If Levy does end up directing the movie, he’s a solid choice. He’s come a long way as a director over the years.
