DEADPOOL 3 Director Shawn Levy Teases Hardcore Violence and Foul Language

We’ve been hearing for a long time that Disney and Marvel Studios aren’t going to prevent Deadpool 3 from being rated R. The creative team has shared how supportive the studios have been in letting them go crazy and do what they want and now director Shawn Levy is weighing in on the R-rated content and teasing how violent and foul it will be. During a recent interview with Collider, Levy had this to say:

"We are writing, rewriting, developing, prepping 'Deadpool' every day now. It is such a blast to laugh every day. It is so delicious to hear and write and come up with these scenes where people are just talking foul. And the violence is in your face and hardcore, and it's very much a 'Deadpool' movie,"

That’s something that I’m sure a lot of fans will be happy to hear. Even though we’ve been told multiple times that there would be no issues with an R-rating, this is still Disney, and you just don’t know! But, Levy is sure having a fun time with it! He went on to say its the most fun he’s had working on a film project:

“And it has Logan in it. And it has Wolverine in it. It's too fun. I'm having so much fun, and I haven't even hit the shooting floor yet. [...] I have to say, developing a 'Deadpool' movie is one of the most fun creative experiences of my life because it's not just that it's rated R. It's that it's so filled with self-awareness, and that makes in-writing very, very fun in a way that is unique to that franchise."

I like what I’m hearing and it’s going to be pretty wild seeing Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine embark on a hardcore Marvel adventure together filled with hardcore violence and foul humor. It wouldn’t be a proper Deadpool movie without it!

Reynolds did previously share some information regarding a Deadpool and Wolverine plot that was being planned before Disney bought Fox. It “was gonna be a road trip between Deadpool and Logan. Rashomon style. For real.”

Deadpool 3 will be released on September 6th, 2024!
