Details on Why DC's BIRDS OF PREY Movie Pushed SUCIDE SQUAD 2 Out of Way and Plans For BATGIRL

Yesterday it was reported that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment was moving forward with their Birds of Prey movie. They surprisingly hired an up and coming director named Cathy Yan to helm the film. I have no idea if she's a good choice or not, but she managed to impress the studio producers and executives to land the gig!

Bird of Prey will be the next film that we see Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn in. It was supposed to be Suicide Squad 2, but the studio pushed that back to focus on Birds of Prey. According to a recent report from entertainment reporter Justin Kroll, the reason the studio wanted to jump on this project and make it a priority is because they loved the script that was written by Christina Hodson.

The studio is also using the film as a way to introduce Batgirl into the DCEU before she gets her own solo film, which Hodson is also currently writing. It's explained that DC Entertainment wants to do with Batgirl what Marvel did with Black Panther and how they introduced him in Civil War before giving him his own solo film. But, just because it worked for Marvel doesn't mean it's going to work for DC.

Here's what was reported:

I like all of the characters that will be involved with Birds of Prey and I really hope that the script is as great as it's said to be. I also hope that this somewhat inexperienced director that they hired to bring the film to life will succeed in her efforts.

What do you think about DC making Birds of Prey a priority and using it as a springboard for Batgirl?
