Did Marvel Alter Chris Evans' Face? AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Fans Spot Something Strange in New TV Spot

Marvel fans have apparently reached the point where even Captain America's nose is a potential MCU mystery. The latest Avengers: Doomsday TV spot has sparked some interesting theories after eagle-eyed viewers noticed that Chris Evans looks noticeably different from his appearance in the film's first trailer.

Evans is returning as Steve Rogers for the first time since 2019's Avengers: Endgame, and fans are already questioning whether Marvel Studios is hiding something about his comeback.

The new footage shows Steve aboard the Fantastic Four's spaceship, where he appears to reunite with Thor. To prove he's really Captain America, Steve summons Mjolnir, confirming that he's still worthy of wielding the powerful hammer.

That's particularly interesting considering the theories suggesting Steve's actions may have contributed to the collapse of the Multiverse.

However, it's Evans' face that has fans doing double takes. Comparisons between the original Avengers: Doomsday trailer and the latest TV spot suggest that Marvel may have digitally altered the actor's nose and hairline.

The differences are noticeable enough to raise questions about whether the studio is using VFX to change Steve Rogers' appearance.

There could be a much simpler explanation. Maybe the have been filmed from slightly different angles, different lighting, or reshoots could account for the changes. Evans is also seven years older than he was when filming Endgame, so Marvel may simply be trying to make Steve look closer to his 2019 appearance.

Naturally, some fans have come up with a more entertaining theory: What if that isn't Steve Rogers at all? It all goes back to the theory that Loki has disguised himself as Rogers.

It could be a minor visual adjustment that fans have turned into a much bigger mystery. Still, with Steve Rogers returning, Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom, and the Multiverse seemingly headed for disaster, it's understandable why fans are suspicious of just about everything Marvel puts on screen.

Regardless of what’s going on here, it's pretty funny that Captain America's nose and hairline have become part of the Avengers: Doomsday conversation.

We'll find out what Marvel has planned when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
