Director Christopher McQuarrie Reportedly Wanted For GREEN LANTERN CORPS

According to a recent report from That Hashtag Show, Warner Bros. is looking at hiring director Christopher McQuarrie to take on the project. McQuarrie is best known for directing films such as Jack Reacher, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, and Mission: Impossible - Fallout. He also wrote scripts for The Usual Suspects and Edge of Tomorrow

Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) was previously supposed to join the film, but I guess that didn't work out. I like the films that McQuarrie has made so if he actually works out a deal with the studio and jumps on board to direct the project, I'd be all for it! He might actually be able to give us a Green Lantern movie that fans will enjoy.

The report goes on to offer a few new details about the script for the film, saying, "the current draft of the film would give us an older, experienced Hal Jordan who is already a Green Lantern Corps vet when he meets newcomer John Stewart. The studio is looking to cast an actor in the 39-50 age range."

One thing that I'd like to point out is that McQuarrie obviously enjoys working with Tom Cruise and it seems like he could fit the age range for Hal Jordan. I imagine there's a chance Cruise could end up in the role. If that did happen, would you be open to the idea?

I do like that the studio plans on skipping the whole origin story of Hal Jordan. The current draft of the script was written by David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel). Some fans have been unsure if this movie was even going to happen after Warner Bros. has been shaking things up with DC Entertainment since the Justice League was released. The development of that film was a mess.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of Christopher McQuarrie directing Green Lantern Corps?
