Director Joe Russo Drops Major New Details Regarding Captain America's Journey in AVENGERS: ENDGAME

I don’t know about you, but I had a lot of questions about what happened with Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America at the end of Avengers: Endgame. I wrote a discussion piece about it that you can read here.

Well, thanks to director Joe Russo, we have some new information to share with you that is sure to get fans filled with excitement and speculation. If you haven’t seen Avengers: Endgame yet, you might was to stop reading now.

With the help of the Quantum Realm, Steve was able to go back in time and finally have that dance with the love of his life, Peggy Carter. This led to him marrying her and living a long life until he was old and grey.

A lot of people have been wondering if his decision to do this would actually alter or effect the future in some why. Or what it means for the past. What was Rogers doing?

Well, director Joe Russo has revealed that Steve actually has been living in an alternate timeline/dimension before making the jump back to the MCU as we know it in order to hand his shield over to Sam Wilson.

"If Cap were to go back into the past and live there, he would create a branched reality. The question then becomes, how is he back in this reality to give the shield away?

"Interesting question, right? Maybe there’s a story there. There’s a lot of layers built into this movie and we spent three years thinking through it, so it’s fun to talk about it and hopefully fill in holes for people so they understand what we’re thinking."

So, that’s interesting! It sounds like the stage was purposefully set for a possible film or series that will address what Cap was doing all of those years. The Joe then went on to further explain that Bucky somehow knows that Steve wasn't planning on coming back. Joe goes on to say:

"Especially when he says goodbye. He says, ‘I’ll miss you.’ Clearly he knows something."

He also confirms that while Bucky knows something, "Sam doesn’t know something.” So, there’s definitely a story here to tell. The question is will Marvel Studio actually end up exploring it? I sure as hell hope so!

I would be pleasantly surprised if Marvel announced a new Captain America film for Phase 4! What do you think about this latest big reveal regarding Captain America?
