Director Patty Jenkins Says WONDER WOMAN 2 Will Be a "Totally Different" Movie

Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman surpassed the expectations of fans and ended up being one of the most critically-acclaimed comic book movies. I love it and it was one of my favorite films last year. I'm super excited about the sequel that is in development and it's going to be interesting to see what kind of story they tell and how it's handled.

Jenkins will be back to direct Gal Gadot in the sequel and they are going to be doing something very different this next time around. While talking to Entertainment Tonight at the Palm Springs Film Festival, Jenkins explained:

"We’re actually making a totally different film with a lot of the same, similar like things that we love, but it’s its own movie completely, so it’s not ‘two’ to us. It’s an entirely new adventure together that we couldn’t be luckier [to do]."

That's good to hear. While some people are more comfortable with sequels that follow the same formula of the first movie because it'as a safe bet, I like that they are going to take the risk to give audiences and fans something completely fresh and new.

We've heard rumors that Wonder Woman 2 would take place during the Cold War, but that has not been confirmed. At this point in the development of the film, we don't really know for sure what to expect. But it would be cool to see a Wonder Woman espionage spy film! That would certainly be different. But, one thing they are trying to do is get the original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, on board in a cameo role. Jenkins went on to say:

"We’ll see. Lynda is one of the dearest people to us, has been a great mentor and dear friend. And we actually desperately tried to get her in the first one and we had the scheduling that couldn’t work, so she’s always been a part of our Wonder Woman family. We won’t say anything yet, but we certainly—there’s no lack of trying."

Wonder Woman 2 is set to hit theaters on November 1, 2019. What are your thoughts on the fact they are taking the sequel in a completely different direction?
