Director Roman Polanski Will Play a Key Role in Quentin Tarantino's 1969 Manson Family Movie

Some new details have come to light regarding Quentin Tarantino's upcoming untitled 1969 Manson Family movie. This will be the filmmaker's ninth film, and fans are trying to figure out everything they can about it.

Leonardo DiCaprio is set to star in the film as an actor character in the story, and the director has wants Margot Robbie to take on the role of Sharon Tate, but she has yet to accept the offer. He's also looked at casting Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in another lead male role. Al Pacino is also up for an unknown role.

The untitled film is described as being a Pulp Fiction-esque type movie set in the 1969 Los Angeles during the summer of the Manson murders. According to a previous report, the story focuses on "a male TV actor who’s had one hit series and his looking for a way to get into the film business. His sidekick—who’s also his stunt double—is looking for the same thing. The horrific murder of Sharon Tate and four of her friends by Charles Manson’s cult of followers serves as a backdrop to the main story."

We also previously got additional details on DiCaprio's character, who will be Tate's neighbor in the film:

What he plays, more specifically, is an actor who had his own Western show, Bounty Law, that ran on the air from 1958 to 1963. His attempt to transition to movies didn’t work out and in 1969 — the film is set at the height of hippy Hollywood movement– he’s guesting on other people’s shows while contemplating going to Italy which has become a hotbed for low-budget Westerns.

The new details revealed comes from entertainment reporter Justin Kroll, who says that director Roman Polanski will play a key role in the film. He was married to Sharon Tate when she and her unborn baby were murdered by members of the Manson Family. He will be played by an actor, but his involvement still may stir up some controversy because as you know, in 1978 Polanski left the United States after he was arrested and charged with raping a 13-year-old girl.

It was also revealed that the role Pitt and Cruise are up for is a stuntman character.

The film is being produced by Harry Potter’s David Heyman and it will be released on August 9, 2019, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of Tate’s murder.
