Director Ryan Coogler Confirms BLACK PANTHER 3 is His Next Film

After the success of his deep south vampire flick Sinners, director Ryan Coogler has confirmed that his next movie will bring him back to Wakanda with the Marvel sequel Black Panther 3.

While speaking at a panel over the weekend at Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles, the two-time Oscar nominee confirmed to the outlet that Black Panther 3 is his “next movie” as he is hard at work completing the MCU trilogy that kicked off with Chadwick Boseman in 2018.

“If it was anybody but you, I would say, ‘I can neither confirm or deny,'” teased Coogler. “But we’re working on it hard. … Yeah, it’s the next movie.”

Boseman first played the role of T’Challa, appearing in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, followed by the Black Panther feature film in 2018. The actor reprised the superhero role in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

After Boseman died of colon cancer in August 2020, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released in 2022 and dedicated to his memory. The film picked up following the death of T’Challa, with Letitia Wright’s Shuri taking over the heroic title.

Last November, Academy Award winner Denzel Washington let it slip that he was being considered for a role in the third installment of Black Panther. During an interview in Australia promoting Gladiator II, he said that Coogler was “writing a part for me,” which the director has since confirmed.

Aside from Washington and Wright, no other actors have been confirmed to have joined the new cast, but with Coogler working on the film, we should hear more very soon.
