Disney+ Cancels Its NATIONAL TREASURE: EDGE OF HISTORY Series After One Season
I don’t know how Disney didn’t see that a National Treasure: Edge of History series was a bad idea, but they moved forward, produced a full season, premiered it, and now it’s been canceled. Disney+ will not be moving forward with a second season, and I’m not surprised.
The show was meant to be an expansion of the National Treasure films, and the story is “told from the point of view of young heroine Jess (Lisette Olivera) — a DREAMer in search of answers about her family — who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about the past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.”
I watched one episode of the series, and it’s all I needed to see to know that this wasn’t going to be worth my time. I enjoyed the National Treasure movies, but this series didn’t really manage to capture the spirit and tone of that adventurous film franchise. Even when the project was initially announced, there wasn’t much excitement about it. Sometimes ideas just don’t work, and that’s ok.
The series also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones, Zuri Reed, Antonio Cipriano, Jordan Rodrigues, Jake Austin Walker and Lyndon Smith. It was executive produced by the films’ producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Jon Turteltaub and writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley.
Did any of you get a chance to watch the series? If so, what did you think?
