Disney+ Reveals STAR WARS: AHSOKA Viewership Numbers and Lucasfilm Issues a Statement
Disney+ has revealed that the first episode of Star Wars: Ahsoka, titled “Master and Apprentice” has received 14 million views and it has become the most-watched title on the streaming service. So far the series has been met with mixed reviews, but as a fan of the animated Star Wars shows, I was happy with it and I thought it was a great start to what is sure to be a strong series.
Lucasfilm also released the following statement from Kathleen Kennedy, saying:
“Ahsoka has become a fan favorite with people of all ages and it’s wonderful to see her continue to resonate with viewers in her very own headlining series. I want to recognize the fantastic work done by our creative team, led by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, the incredible cast led by Rosario Dawson, and our talented crew — and on behalf of the team and all of Lucasfilm, we give our thanks to all the fans who have been with Ahsoka on every step of her journey and to all those who are just learning about her now in Ahsoka on Disney+.”
I do love what Filoni and Favreau have done with the Star Wars franchise, and I hope that they get to keep telling these awesome and epic stories set in the galaxy far far away.
Star Wars: Ahsoka is basically Rebels Season 5 and the story picks up where that animated series left off. The official logline reads: “Set after the fall of the Empire, Star Wars: Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.”
She turns back up with Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) as they embark on a journey to find Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) and Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), their adventure really begins. The series also stars Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Ray Stevenson as Baylon, and Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati.
