Disney Will Not Rehire James Gunn For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3

After a strong push by the fans and the cast to get James Gunn back on board to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Disney is standing firm in their decision and will not rehire Gunn.

As you all know, Gunn was fired by Disney shortly after some old tasteless and offensive jokes resurfaced thanks to an alt-right agitator. Fans thought there was a glimmer of hope when word got out that Marvel Studios was trying to persuade Disney to bring him back on. But, it turns out that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige stands by the studio’s decision to not bring Gunn back.

According to Variety, "Gunn and his UTA reps pushed hard for him to be given a second chance, and Horn decided to take a courtesy meeting on Tuesday to clear the air and see if there was a possibility of Gunn returning to the franchise. Though the meeting was described as civil and professional, sources say that Horn stood by his decision to not reinstate Gunn as director."

According to an inside source, Feige was "out of town" and unable to attend that meeting. When Feige gets back into town, Disney and Marvel will continue the search for a new director to replace Gunn. Whoever is brought in will likely take the script that Gunn wrote and "put a polish on it in order to add their stamp to the project."

I'm not a big fan of this news. It makes me sad. But, life goes on and the film will get made without Gunn. I'm not worried about Gunn, though, he'll be fine. he's getting a ton of other film project offers and I'll be looking forward to seeing what he does next!
