Disney’s HEXED Adds Jodie Foster and Walton Goggins to Its Magical Voice Cast
Disney is cooking up some witchy trouble for Thanksgiving, and Jodie Foster and Walton Goggins are officially getting in on the magic.
Disney announced at D23 that Foster and Goggins have joined the voice cast of Walt Disney Animation’s Hexed, the upcoming animated fantasy adventure starring Hailee Steinfeld.
Foster will be bringing some serious villain energy to the movie, while Goggins has landed a role that sounds wonderfully weird as he is playing a three-eyed green cat in a pink coat named Beef Roger.
For Foster, Hexed also marks a pretty cool return to her Disney roots. The Oscar-winning actress appeared in Disney movies Candleshoe and Freaky Friday early in her career, but she revealed at D23 that Hexed takes her into completely new territory.
“I have never voiced a character in a Disney film until now.” Foster will voice Queen Celeste, the movie’s primary witch villain, giving Steinfeld’s young hero a formidable magical enemy to deal with.
Goggins, meanwhile, had a little fun teasing his role while speaking to the crowd at the Honda Center. “What kind of part would a guy like me play?” Apparently, the answer is Beef Roger.
The Justified and Fallout star voices the three-eyed green feline, who serves as a witch’s sidekick and sports a pink coat. Beef Roger eventually befriends Steinfeld’s teenage protagonist as she discovers her own witch powers and finds herself going up against a whole group of witches.
Hexed centers on an awkward teenage girl and her Type-A mother who discover that the things making the teen seem peculiar may actually be magical abilities. That revelation completely changes their lives and opens the door to a hidden magical realm.
The film is directed by Jason Hand, Josie Trinidad, and Fawn Veerasunthorn, and Disney has assembled an impressive voice cast around Steinfeld, Foster, and Goggins. Alan Tudyk, Rashida Jones, Stephen Fry, CeeLo Green, and Tracey Ullman are also lending their voices to the animated adventure.
Hexed is set to open in theaters on Wednesday, November 25, right before Thanksgiving. That puts it in the prime holiday corridor that has worked extremely well for Disney Animation in the past.
Hexed hits theaters November 25.
