Disney's PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN Reboot Will Reportedly Replace Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow with a Female Pirate

Not long ago we learned that Disney was looking to reboot the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise with Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick writing the script.

There wasn’t a lot of information regarding what the reboot would entail when it was first announced, but it was safe to assume that Johnny Depp would not be back to reprise his role of Jack Sparrow.

Now, a new report has surfaced today from Hybrid News that says Jack Sparrow will be replaced by a female pirate named Redd. In case you’re weren’t aware, this female pirate is the latest addition to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at the Disney theme parks. Redd can be seen in the auction scene of the ride.

This is just a rumor at the moment, but it certainly sounds like something that Disney would want to do!

The only reason I have any interest in this film is the fact that Resse and Wernick are writing it. I dig their wild and comedic style. At the same time, do we really need more Pirates of the Caribbean films?

Hopefully they end up writing a great script that tell a great story that will put the previous Pirates films to shame.

What do you think about the possibility of female pirate taking the lead in this Pirates reboot? Who would you like to see play the character?
