Donald Glover Addresses His Possible Involvement with Lucasfilm's LANDO Series
Last year it was announced that Lucasfilm was producing a live-action Lando series being developed by Justin Simien (Dear White People). The series is being developed for Disney+, but there have been no details or updates on the project since.
Fans assumed that Donald Glover would come back to reprise his role from Solo: A Star Wars Story, but that has not been confirmed. During a recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Glover was asked about the project, and while he didn’t confirm he was coming back for the series, he didn’t deny it either.
At one point, Kimmel claimed that Glover was about to start work on Lando, and the actor responded:
"Am I? [You're] just telling all my business ... No, yeah, I have a lot of things. I like to blossom, and then go away ... And right now it's definitely the start of another one of those. I have like a ton of stuff I've been working on, but I just wanted it all to come out at the same time. I feel like that's what's important to me."
He completely dodged the question, and while there’s still no confirmation that he will be playing Lando Calrissian in the series, I’d say it’s a good bet that he is. Glover previously talked about wanting to star in a standalone Lando project. Shortly after Solo was released in theaters, he described it as being Frasier in space. He explained:
“It would be cool to see, like, Frasier in Space. Like, a high-end guy in space. All of these characters are very specific and they have very specific points of view, so it’s always going to be fun to see them traveling around to a planet that is the opposite of what they’re used to … And all of that seems like it would be fun to write, for sure.”
It’ll be cool to see how this series turns out and see what kind of story it will tell!
