Donald Glover Talks About His LANDO Movie and Explains "I Just Want It To Be Fun"

Donald Glover recently talked about his Star Wars: Lando move and explains what he is hoping to deliver it it. The most important thing for him is that he wants the movie to be fun.

Glover told the Wall Street Journal: "I just want it to be fun, like, as a Star Wars fan myself, I think it’s important that there just needs to be more fun being had. It’s very hard to have fun right now.

“It’s tough because there are very serious things happening, and those are the only things that connect us, weirdly, so I get why things are serious, but, part of the human experience, I believe, is we have a responsibility to have enjoyment. And I just feel like we’re lacking in that department."

Glover has been attached to this project for a long time and with Lucaasfilm’s track record with Star Wars movies, there’s no guarantee that it will actually happen. If it does, though, I’m sure that Glover will deliver a fun flick!

When previously talking about why he signed on to the project Glover said: “I said yes because I like the characters and my kids love Star Wars. And at this point, I just know when something's going to be good, because you're really fighting the industry when you [put your imprint on a franchise of that magnitude]. And it's not like ... I was going to say, and it's not like I hate the industry, but now I'm like, 'Do I hate the industry?'"

The actor previously said he wanted to tell a story that he knew he would be happy with, and he doesn’t want to waste his time on a project that he’s not fully invested in, but said Lando is definitely a character he’d like to play again.

He said: “People kind of realized that their time was valuable. You only get so much. So I am not interested in doing anything that’s just going to be a waste of my time or just a paycheck.

“I’d much rather spend time with people that I enjoy. So it just has to be the right thing, which I think it could be. Lando is definitely somebody I’d like to hang out with.”

Glover previously shared his vision for a Lando project, describing it as Frasier in space: “It would be cool to see, like, Frasier in Space. Like, a high-end guy in space.

“All of these characters are very specific and they have very specific points of view, so it’s always going to be fun to see them traveling around to a planet that is the opposite of what they’re used to … And all of that seems like it would be fun to write, for sure.”

Glover made his debut as Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and that set up a lot more stories to be told with the character and it will be interesting to see what kind of story that Glover ends up telling if he gets the chance.
