DUNE Star Rebecca Ferguson Talks About Defending Herself After "Idiot" Co-Star Screamed at Her and Made Her Cry

Dune: Part Two star Rebecca Ferguson recently revealed that she was screamed at by one of her co-stars in anger, and how she stepped up to defend herself in the aftermath. The most surprising thing was how producers reacted to how she defended herself, because they did not have her back.

Ferguson played Lady Jessica in the Dune franchise, but it’s not clear if this experience she had was from this movie or another film. It doesn’t really matter, it just shows that there are still asshole actors out there working in Hollywood that continue to get away with being assholes.

While a guest on the Reign With Josh Smith podcast Ferguson shared the experience she had where she "found her voice" on set, recounting being screamed at by an actor who was at the top of the call sheet. She said:

"I did a film with an absolute idiot of a co-star and this human being was being so insecure and angry because this person couldn't get the scenes out. And I think I was so vulnerable and uncomfortable that I got screamed at and I would cry walking off set.

"This person would literally look at me in front of the whole crew and say, 'You call yourself an actor? This is what I have to work with?' I stood there just breaking. Because this person was number one on the call sheet, there was no safety net for me. No one had my back."

What an asshat! Ferguson then shared how she stood up to her co-star and how it was the first time she ever defended herself on set. As you might imagine, this was nervewracking for her.

She was scheduled to work with him the next day, and when she walked onto set, she told the unamed actor, "You get off my set. You can F off. I'm gonna work towards a tennis ball. I never want to see you again." She added:

"And then I remember the producers came up and said, 'You can't do this to number one. We have to let this person be on set.' And I said, 'The person can turn around and I can act to the back of the head.' And I did. I was so scared. I feel it now when I'm saying it."

The director of this film project eventually admitted to Ferguson that they weren't doing a good enough job creating a safe environment. Ferguson said the director said: "You're right. I am not taking care of everyone else. I'm trying to fluff this person because it's so unstable."

No one in any work environment should be subjected to what Furguson went through with this actor. What a horrible experience to go through, but I’m glad that she stood up for herself and fired back.
