Eli Roth Teases His THANKGIVING 2 Slasher Movie and How He is "Upping the Ante"

With Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving 2 set to be released next year in 2025, the movie has got to start shooting soon. During a recent interview with Indiewire, the filmmaker offered an update on the slasher sequel.

Roth and Jeff Rendell are both returning to write the screenplay for the film, and right now the project is in “soft prep” and there are “plans to start shooting [Thanksgiving 2] at the end of March [2025].”

Roth shared what we can expect from the film: “We’re upping the ante but we are not going to do it with more money. That keeps it tight and lean and mean and forces us to make decisions.

“There’s a lot of setting up that we did in the first one that we don’t have to deal with now. It can just be all pay-off.”

He goes on to tease the kill scenes, saying: “I’ve come up with stuff that is going to be a challenge, and I want it to be a challenge to pull off. Because if I’ve come up with the stuff that I think will make the best kills, then I’m going to do it like I’m never going to make another movie again.”

In the first film, “After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the infamous holiday.” The killer is known as John Carver and he will be back fro more blood.

The movie is going to be a continuation of the first movie, with both Nell Verlaque and Rick Hoffman expected to reprise their roles. Verlaque played final girl Jessica, while Hoffman played her character’s father, Thomas Wright.
