ELVIS Star Austin Butler Is Joining Denis Villeneuve's DUNE: PART TWO
Elvis star Austin Butler is in negotiations to join the cast of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two. It was also recently reported that Florence Pugh is in negotiations to join the film. They will be a part of a talented ensemble cast, which includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, and Josh Brolin.
Butler will play Feyd-Rautha, who was originally played by Sting in the 1984 David Lynch movie. Rautha is a fan-favorite character, and he is expected to play a big role in Part Two. In the story, he is the younger nephew and heir of the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, and is depicted to be as “similarly cruel, treacherous and cunning as his uncle.”
When previously talking about the sequel, Villeneuve teased that this next movie is going to the “main meal.” The director previously shared that Dune: Part One is just “an appetizer for the second part still to come.” I’m excited to this story continue because the second half of the story is a lot more exciting than the first part!
Production on the film is expected to start in the fall, with the film set to be released on October 20, 2023.
