Evan Peters Would Return To Marvel, But He's Done With Playing Dark Roles Like Jeffrey Dahmer
Evan Peters is an incredibly talented actor that has had a pretty impressive acting career. Over the course of his career, he spent some time playing Quicksilver in several X-Men movies and WandaVision, and a lot of fans loved him in that role. He also most recently played Jeffery Dahmer in the Netflix series Dahmer: Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
Some Marvel fans have wondered if we’d ever seen Peters in the MCU again, and while we don’t know the answer to that question, the actor is definitely open to returning if Marvel comes knocking. However, he also said that he’s done playing dark characters like Dahmer. Apparently it took a toll on him. He told Deadline in a recent interview:
"I'd be in another Marvel movie. Yeah, I think for me, Dahmer was really the last sort of dark character that I'm going to play for an extended period of time. So it was sort of a send-off to that time of working hard on things like that, and now I'm going to try to pivot. Anything in the light I'm just trying to stay out of the darkness for a while."
It will be interesting to see what kinds of projects Peters takes on next. Hopefully, one day we’ll see him back in the MCU! There are still opportunities to play the version of his character that was introduced in WandaVision. There’s still so much fan speculation about that version of Quicksilver, and it’s hard to think that they didn’t have something bigger in mind for him for the future.
When previously talking about bringing Peters into WandaVision as Ralph Boner, producer Mary Livanos said: "The idea of bringing Evan into the universe as this 'Quicksilver' really presented itself when we were figuring out Agatha's plot. Because the villain's plot really was to make Wanda feel unsure about her power. At this point in Wanda's sort of grieving process, we wanted her to be unsure about what she was capable of, about what she was doing, was her subconscious acting out again? We wanted Wanda to believe that her powers could be on the fritz.”
She added: "In our studies of grief and grieving, a side effect that we found is when you lose someone, the details of memory recall can get fuzzy. So the idea that she kind of forgot exactly what her brother's face looked like, and perhaps her powers have been acting out again, we found really compelling.”
As for why it had to be Peters in the role, she said: “We wanted the audience to be as confounded as Wanda and so Evan was the obvious choice for that. Though we knew that we wanted to sort of upend expectations. And so when we brought Evan in and explained exactly what the character was and where he ends up as Ralph, Evan was game. And we're so grateful for that."
So, while Evans was just used to mess with the fans, if they did want to find a way to bring him back and explore the character a little more, they totally could. Would you want to see Peters return to the MCU? Do you think he will?
