EVIL DEAD BURN Will Reportedly Drop a Big Cameo and It Isn’t Bruce Campbell
New Line Cinema’s next trip into Deadite territory is shaping up to surprise longtime fans in a big way. Evil Dead Burn is still over a year away from hitting theaters, but a new report is already stirring the pot with word of a major cameo.
The twist is that it apparently doesn’t involve Bruce Campbell, the face most fans instantly associate with the franchise.
According to a rumor from The Beyond Reporter, Campbell won’t be appearing in the film at all, either as Ash or in any other form. If that turns out to be true, it would mark the first time an Evil Dead movie has moved forward without his involvement.
“Bruce Campbell Will Not Appear in Evil Dead Burn”
This is a big shift for the series, but the same insider points to a different familiar face stepping into the spotlight. Instead of Ash, the rumored cameo belongs to Alyssa Sutherland, reprising her role as Ellie from Evil Dead Rise.
Ellie, a single mom of three who became a terrifying Deadite after the Necronomicon entered her home, left a strong impression in the 2023 film.
“She appears at the end of Evil Dead Burn, playing the same character from Evil Dead Rise.”
If accurate, that cameo would connect the newer standalone entries and suggest the franchise is building its own loose continuity without leaning on Ash as the anchor.
Evil Dead Burn is being directed by Sébastien Vaniček, who co-wrote the screenplay with Florent Bernard. The cast includes Hunter Doohan, Tandi Wright, Souheila Yacoub, Luciane Buchanan, and George Pullar. Franchise creator Sam Raimi is on board as a producer alongside Robert Tapert. The film is currently set for a July 24, 2026 theatrical release.
The Evil Dead saga kicked off in 1981 with Raimi’s low-budget original, which later grew into a cult phenomenon and spawned Evil Dead II in 1987 and Army of Darkness in 1992.
After years of dormancy, Fede Álvarez revived the series with a harder-edged reimagining in 2013, followed by Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise in 2023. Altogether, the series has pulled in over $300 million worldwide.
As a fan of the this franchise, I’m excited to see what Evil Dead Rise delivers!
