Ewan McGregor Responds On Possible Role In OBI-WAN KENOBI Spinoff Film

Last summer we learned that Oscar-nominated filmmaker Stephen Daldry was in talks to direct Disney and Lucasfilm's Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff. Since then the internet has been abuzz over the fact that no one but Ewan McGregor, who played Kenobi in all three prequel films, should be considered for the job.

Now thanks to his recent Golden Globe win, McGregor talked about his possibility of returning to the Star Wars galaxy as Obi-Wan Kenobi saying, "There’s a lot of talk, and I’d be happy to play him again, but I don’t know anything more than you do." McGregor told reporters backstage at the Golden Globes, after he won a best actor award for his role in FX's Fargo. This isn't the first time he's mentioned that he is interested in reprising the role.

McGregor played the Jedi master in the Star Wars prequels from 1999-2005, and his voice was featured briefly in a scene in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens when Rey (Daisy Ridley) had a vision after touching Luke Skywalker's lightsaber.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now in theaters and McGregor gave a glowing approval:

"I saw the new one over Christmas and I thought it was really, really beautiful."
