Ewan McGregor Says Lucasfilm is "Exploring" Ideas For OBI-WAN KENOBI Season 2

Ewan McGregor recently appeared at LA Comic-Con and he took part in a panel and Q&A with fans. During the event, McGregor confirmed that Lucasfilm is now "exploring" ideas for Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2.

McGregor went on to say that he wants to wear Obi-Wan's Clone Wars armor and reunite with Hayden Christensen for some flashback scenes. As you might imagine, the fans got insanely excited over the prospect of this happening.

Ever since the Obi-Wan Kenobi series came to an end, McGregor has been very vocal about wanting to continue with a second season that will tell another adventurous story for the fan-favorite character.

McGregor has said: “I loved, more than anything, getting to know Alec Guinness’ work because I was playing him as a young man. Even now with the series, that’s my personal challenge—if a take feels a bit like him, I’m happy.”

He added: “I really do hope we get a chance to do another one. Between where we ended off in the series and when Alec Guinness comes on screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there’s another few stories to tell in there.”

While McGregor continues to push for a second season, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has said many times that there are no plans for a second season. The Obi-Wan Kenobi series was originally never meant to go beyond one season, but that could change.

I was not a fan of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series with its weak story, script, and character development, and I think it was a missed opportunity to tell a truly incredible Star Wars story.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was originally being planned as a trilogy and the plans for the movie actually sounded a lot better than what the series ended up being. You can read all about those original plans here and here.

If Lucasfilm does move forward with a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, I hope that they learn from their mistakes from the first season.
